Bloody Ploughman Apple Trees

Bloody ploughman apple is a fairly vigorous variety with medium to large fruits, flat round ribbed fruit, blood red skin, crisp and juicy, the flesh becomes stained pink when ripe. Sweet with a light flavour. First discovered in Carse of Gowrie, Scotland. First recorded in 1883. The story goes that a ploughman was caught stealing apples from the Megginch estate and shot by a gamekeeper. His wife threw the stolen apples on a rubbish heap. One of the seedlings which arose was resued and gave rise to the variety which was named after the unfortunate ploughman. Supplied bare rooted, 2 year old tree at a present height of 150 cm/5 feet. Braeburn Apple Trees

Braeburn apple is an excellent eating dessert apple that is firm to the touch with a red/orange vertical streaky appearance on a yellow/green background. The fruits are crisp and juicy in taste. The variety Braeburn is believed to have been discovered as a seedling in 1952 by a farmer Mr Moran from Waiwhero in the Moutere Hills in New Zealand. It was then cultivated by a fruit tree nursery Williams Brothers. The variety Braeburn is thought to be a cross between Granny Smith and Lady Hamilton. The apple itself is named after Braeburn Orchard where it was first commercially grown. Braeburn apples have a wonderful combination of tart and sweet flavour. They are available from October to April and the fruit are medium to large in size. Braeburn apples can also be used in cooking as well as eating. Bramley Apple Trees

Bramley apple is a very good quality and useful cooking apple, probably one of the best and well known varieties around.
Large apples produced on a big tree, with wonderful pink blossom in spring. Unfortunately Bramley is a sterile variety and needs two other pollinaters to produce fruit.

Carlisle Codlin Apple Trees

Carlisle Codling apple is an old English variety presumed to have started life out in Carlisle, Cumberland. It dates back to around 1830. Widely grown in Victorian England. Large yellow square fruit. Cooks to a white, juicy puree. Hardy tree suitable for Northern England and Scotland The variety is self sterile so needs a pollinator. Grown on rootstock M26 which is a fairly vigorous rootstock. Catshead Apple Trees

Catshead apple is an old English variety, the earliest reference to which dates from 1629. The shape of the apple rather like a catshead gave it its name.
Grown in 18th and 19th Century England. Large, oblong-conical, irregular shaped fruit. Pale greenish yellow skin with russet dots. White, soft, juicy flesh.
Cooks to a sharp, firm puree. The variety will need a polinator to produce fruit. Supplied bare rooted, 2 year old tree at a present height of 150 cm/5 feet.

Lord Derby Apple Trees

Lord Derby apple is an old variety. A large English cooking apple, ripening in the mid to late season - from mid-September to early October. The apple Lord Derby fruits in early autumn after the early cookers such as Keswick Codlin and Grenadier, and before the late cookers such as Bramley. This is not a variety for winter storage but the apples can be kept for a month or so in a cool place. The flavour is excellent, slightly acidic when picked early, but milder if picked when fully ripe at which point the skin becomes more yellow. Peasgood's Nonsuch Apple Trees

Apple Peasgood's nonsuch is an excellent variety and can be used as a Dessert or Cooking Apple. The apple was bred by Mrs. Peasgood at Stamford in Lincolnshire in 1858. A Large cooking apple. When the apples are mature they look similar to Charles Ross. Pale green with broken green stripes and orange flesh. When cooked makes a sweet, deliciously flavoured puree. Juicy when eaten fresh. Rev Wilks Apple Trees
Product Description
Apple Rev W Wilkes is a very old variety of cooking apple. The tree is fairly compact and has wonderful pink blossom in spring.
The large, conical apples ripen during August and September and can be used through to November.
The flesh is juicy and cooks easily to a lovely puree. Rev Wilkes apples are also great for stewing.
It is a mid-season flowering pollinator, and is best grown near another apple tree flowering at roughly the same period, it is partly self fertile. Good for northern gardens it is a tough hardy tree.
Scotch Brigit Apple Trees

Apple Scotch Bridget is an excellent cooking apple, it is tough and reliable and is great for growing in northern areas. Apple Scotch Bridget will tolerate hard frosts and poor summers.
The fruit apples are a good size a mixture of red and green. Flavour is excellent and can be eaten after being stored for a few months although it may still be sharp. Great for Cooking, they have an excellent texture, and a lovely fresh flavour. Also known as White Calville, originated in Scotland in 1851.
A cooking apple, produces good heavy crops of green/yellow flushed red apples. left on until Dec can be eaten.Height : supplied at 150 cm. Ready in October and can be stored for up to three months.
Apple Scotch Brigit is not self fertile and is best grown with a good pollinator. Crab apple John Downie is an excellent pollinator for all other fruit trees.
Scotch Dumpling Apple Trees

Tom Putt Apple

Apple Tom Putt is a hardy cooking apple, the fruit can also be used for making cider. The large fruit are reddish green and shiny, with a light flavour and sweet melting texture. Excellent for cider making the fruit are easy to juice. Tom Putt apple is resistant to scab, the fruit is usually ready in late august to september and can be stored up until christmas. The tree is vigorous and will start to fruit from a young age. supplied as a bare rooted specimen 150cm / 5 feet. The variety is self sterile so needs a pollinator. Malus John downie is always an excellent pollinator. Tom Putt was named after the Reverend Tom Putt who was the rector of Trent roughly 200 years ago.
Tower of Glamis Apple

Apple Tower of Glamis is a hardy cooking apple originating from Scotland in roughly 1800. A self fertile variety, the fruit is odd shaped, bright green and when cooked becomes pale lemon, sweet soft and fluffy. The fruit is usually picked in october and can be stored from november through to february. Growth is compact and upright and the tree is an excellent choice for northern gardens. Supplied bare rooted from november to march, 150cm / 5 feet high.
